The culmination of Worldwise for secondary schools is the annual Worldwise Challenge event. This is a free-of-charge residential weekend of fieldwork activities aimed at Y8-10.
Up to 10 schools will be invited to send a team of 3 pupils and a teacher to take part in a broad range of enjoyable and competitive fieldwork activities at a Field Studies Council centre in the UK, at or around the Easter holiday period.
Schools will be invited based on the degree and quality of pupil engagement in any of the other Worldwise activites. Teachers attending will also be offered a unique CPD opportunity based around quality fieldwork content delivered by experienced professional staff. As well as the Worldwise Challenge trophy for the winning school there are a number of other prizes available to be won during the weekend. This competition is also used to select the pupils who will compete in the National Geographic World Championships and the International Geography Olympiad, which in recent years have been hosted in North America, Hungary and Australia!
How to enter?
Schools are invited based on their prior involvement with all of the other Worldwise activities. You can however register your interest at any time by emailing your schools' details together with an expression of interest in taking part in the annual Worldwise Challenge to rgill@geography.org.uk
